As Ingleborough Archaeology Group marks its 30th birthday in 2026, we look back at some of the group's most important projects since its foundation in 1996.
IAG's excavations and survey activities have covered thousands of years of activity in the Dales, from prehistoric monument complexes to Iron Age settlements, and from early medieval shielings to 19th century railway construction camps. Read about IAG's first 30 years in this special review.
And more lies ahead in 2026 and beyond. In addition to the group's regular talks, we are carrying out practical projects this year including surveys of Neolithic and Bronze Age cairns around Ingleborough, and landscape archaeology surveys in Langstrothdale. Excavations at Craven Lime Works are also in the pipeline. Find more about future projects and events.
New members are always welcome. Talks are open to all though you need to be a member to take part in practical projects. Contact us if you are interested.
